The Ring of the Ever Resilient Spirit
Cycle Two
The Ring of the Ever Resilient Spirit
The Ring of the Ever Resilient Spirit is the third ring of the second cycle of the series This Too Shall Break. This ring is devoted to endurance, growth, and the capacity to meet challenge with openness and strength. It honors resilience not as rigidity, but as the willingness to learn, adapt, and continue evolving through experience. The ring stands as a companion for those who remain curious and engaged with life, reminding the wearer that resilience is built through change rather than resistance to it.
The ring is carved from a found piece of red marble with deep purple tones. While the stone is not identified as Imperial Porphyry, it shares visual and physical qualities with that historically significant material, including its color, hardness, and texture. This marble was once discarded, its origins unknown, and has been given a new beginning through carving. The transformation from overlooked fragment to wearable object reflects the durability of stone and its ability to take on renewed purpose over time.
This Too Shall Break is a series of thirteen cycles of thirteen stone rings. The project brings our idea of stone sculpture as large immutable things only to be shared in museums and public spaces down to earth. Each ring is small, delicate, and personal. It is a piece of wearable art which requires mindfulness for the wearer, changing the relationship between collector and art. These rings are not meant to be owned, but to be experienced, to grow with, and to take care of.
